Above is one of the multitude of Art Deco street fence motifs, which can be encountered by any casual visitor throughout Bucharest. It depicts a series of sunbursts or reflector beams, very typical of that style’s decorative panoply.

I love this panel of fencing and presumably the attached gate used the same reflector beam pattern. My favourite Peter Cuffley book called “Houses of the ’20s and ’30s” has many fence and gate patterns but they were largely boring. Your Bucharest example was quite sexy, I think.

Thank you for your nice words! The adjacent gate is in a quite poor state unfortunately, with missing fragments, replaced by out of context metal bars. I will try to find a copy of the book you mentioned, as I am thinking of publishing something similar here, and need to see other format models. Valentin
